The San Francisco Paramedic Association is pleased to announce that it will hold the California EMS Educator Workshop and Retreat from June 12th through 14th, 2008. This innovative and exciting program will be held at the beautiful Marconi State Conference Center, located on the magical coastline of West Marin County, just north of San Francisco.

Participants who complete the workshop will fulfill not only the requirements of California Code of Regulations Title 22 for primary EMS instructor, but be exposed to new, different and better ways of teaching and learning. The course will utilize a wide variety of methods that will model the philosophy of useful, exciting, and fun education that challenges students to master key concepts in EMS.

The program facilitators are no strangers to creative learning methods. David Page is a paramedic program instructor at Inver Hills Community College (MN). Arthur Hsieh is the Education Director at the San Francisco Paramedic Association (CA). Both educators bring their considerable experience, knowledge and skills to create an educational experience like no other.

Located in bucolic Marin County, the historic Marconi State conference center (www.marconiconference.org) is a leisurely 1 1⁄2 hour drive from San Francisco. A state of the art conference facility, it is secluded enough for participants to fully engage with the workshop, yet highly accessible to the amazing coastline of Richardson and Tomales Bays. The Marconi State Park itself has numerous hiking trails and breathtaking vistas to rest the mind between sessions. The workshop schedule will allow for ample exploration of the area.

Accommodations are all inclusive. Housed in either triple or double style loft rooms, participants will have access to three meals daily, served at the center’s restaurant style eatery. Meals rise far above the standard fare, using fresh local produce and other delicious ingredients.

The exciting workshop and retreat promises to be challenging, interesting, and fun! Come prepared to work hard, yet enjoy the camaderie of fellow educators in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Seating is quite limited; do not delay! We look forward to seeing you there!
